Spoke to conner regarding my Samsung s20 , I was quoted £210 by email but when they received my phone they said it was only worth £42 , I called and spoke to conner who I must say was excellent, I explained that there must be a mistake and he looked into it for me , happy days £210 going in my account, thanks conner??

Sent a near pristine Samsung Note 10 with a quote price of £125, got an email on Friday evening with a new quote of £26 due to "Screen burn" stating I had 48hrs if I wished to cancel.
I thoroughly examined the phone before sending, there was no burn.
I emailed to cancel and asked for further info. They did send pictures, but these were so poor in quality that I couldn't make out where this apparent screen burn was.
When I got the phone back, I took it to two nationwide and we'll known trade in stores. Both offered over £130 for trade in, slightly lower for cash. After they had inspected the phone, I advised both that I had been told there was screen burn. Two inspections later, no change to the quotes.

I suspect O2 Recycle rely on either trust or laziness of customers to rip people off

I spoke to James from o2 recycle this morning,and he was very friendly and helpful,I got a reduction in price because there were dead pixels on my screen,but James asked me if I had sent the old handset as an upgrade,and I received an extra £150 as part of a promotion,so I’m very pleased.

Terrible customer service got an e- Mail saying my phone was worth only £7 instead of the original £47 due to condition and screen burn? Load of rubbish phone was in as new condition and screen was A1 only 48 hrs given to cancel the offer given I got the email late on Friday and no one available until Monday unacceptable behaviour on o2 part to a loyal customer very annoyed and disappointed

Took up the offer of £79 for my Huawei p30 Pro. Sent it off in the original box. They send me a revised offer of £34, saying the case is damaged or cracked. Told them to send it back. Upon inspection, its not cracked or damaged its general wear which is OK according to there policy. And they have not sent the original box back either.
To say I've been with o2 for many years I find this an insult to try and scam a valued customer as they call me, not the first time this has happened with recycle, I would recommend not using this option. And I want the original packaging back !

I sent my S20 Ultra to take advantage of the £250 extra trade-in value with a Z Fold 3. There were issues from the start because the code would not work to add on the extra £250, but I was assured it would be added on when I got my quote. The phone was well packaged and sent insured. They then sent me a revised quote, claiming the LCD is damaged, offering a fraction of the cost. There is no damage to the LCD and I'm thankful I took videos and photos of the moment it was packaged (display fully functional) to take this further.

UPDATE: I amended the review from 1 to 4 stars because Connor contacted me and was fantastic. He got it resolved.

Purchased a Samsung S22+ as part of the o2 recycle scheme that offered an extra £100 for trading in my device. Quoted £180.25 for my S20, it's in near mint condition (only issue is general wear and tear).

Sent my phone off, all correct and in it's original packaging. I received a revised quote on it's arrival of £36.05 with a note "unable to make a call" - Contacted o2 recycle to be told there isn't a sim card tray. I triple checked before sending the phone off that I had reset, removed all accessories, screen protectors and my sim was removed, alongside replacing the tray. Very rude and abysmal customer service, dismissive of myself as a customer and all blame solely left to myself, told misleading lies o2 don't have the capacity to source sim card trays (even though it was supplied to them) cancelled my order and was sent back only the phone in their own packaging, once again contacted and asked why, told as per section 8.5 they immediately recycle all boxes and accessories. Section 8.5 clearly states "we will not return accessories and your device may be returned in alternative packaging." the crucial part is "may" as I did not accept these new terms and conditions, it's clear they retain some level of your items otherwise the T&C's would specifically include "we will not" much like their accessories.

Once again for the second phone call, very rude and dismissive customer service rep rather than explain to a customer he insisted on being abrupt and arrogant in his explanation.

So as it stands I am left without my sim card tray and original box, a phone that has reduced in value due to o2's incompetence and judging by other's experience this is quite common.

Avoid.

Sam has been an amazing help today done everything and more i have asked couldnt ask for better help

I e-mailed support before doing my trade in as the website was giving constant errors accepting the £150 bonus promotion. Support told me to complete the trade in without promotion added and then respond to the e-mail to get them to add the promotion manually.

This sounded a little bit sketchy to me so I e-mailed back again to confirm that I would definitely receive the bonus promotion for the phone I was trading in, I gave full details of the model etc and was told that I would no issue at all getting that rate added, so I went ahead as suggested and placed the order without the promotion added and emailed them afterwards, as I was instructed to, its now taken several e-mails just to have them tell me that the phone was processed and accepted for £0 and as such is not eligible for the promotion.

Absolutely terrible customer service, they do not even read what you say before responding, I have asked for a complaint to be esculated to somebody more senior, but given the service so far i'm not expecting much and I don't know what they are regulated by at Recycle.

I have had brilliant communication from Connor at 02 recycle over the last couple of days as had some issues with receiving money for my recycled phone due to a store team making errors with my bank details (and also my surname which meant delay getting my cheque sent to me). Connor has been really efficient, friendly and has kept me up to date regularly in resolving the issue for me as fast as he possibly can. Cannot thank him enough for easing a stressful situation!

Sam was an absolute star, I telephoned to enquire where my phone recycle money was as I hadn't received the funds and it had been over 10 days since I upgraded my phone. Sam was brilliant, he made enquiries with the store, kept me up to date at all times with the progress and the problem was resolved. Keep up the fab work Sam - I really appreciated your time, support and resolution. Thank you

5 stars for Sam but the 02 recycle programme itself seems a bit of a sham. Although they are offering an extra £150 ontop of the value of the phone it seems that a lot of people including myself are being told that they can't give the full agreed amount due to 'screen burn', however I called to query this and luckily I got Sam dealing with my call who went above and beyond to get my phone re examined wich means I will be getting the full original amount. Thankyou to Sam for all of his time and effort getting the issue resolved, you are a credit to the 02 recycle team!

My third time using this service, and excellent service yet again! Posted my old phone last Thursday (own packaging and printed label from email), received acknowledgment of receipt and confirmed quote value on Monday, and amount credited to my O2 account today (Thursday - so exactly one week). Such a simple, fast and convenient way to recycle!
